Understand an OpenFeather answer

Separate retrieved evidence, generated interpretation, recommendations and confirmed actions so you can judge an answer correctly.

· OpenbirdAI documentation

An OpenFeather answer is not one thing. It can contain retrieved evidence, interpretation of that evidence, a recommendation, and a separately confirmed action. Knowing which is which is how you decide how much to trust it.

The four layers

  • Evidence — retrieved records or pages, listed with dates and links.
  • Interpretation — the model's summary, comparison or explanation of that evidence.
  • Recommendation — a suggested course of action, with reasoning.
  • Confirmation — an action the product reports it actually completed.
Only the fourth layer means something changed in the outside world. Everything above it is information and suggestion.

Reading an answer critically

  1. Check whether the answer cites sources at all.
  2. Confirm the period and account the sources cover.
  3. Separate what is stated from what is inferred — phrasing often blends them.
  4. Look for a stated limitation; an honest answer usually says when it is unsure.

Signals that an answer needs more scrutiny

  • No sources on a question that should have required evidence.
  • Precise numbers with no cited record.
  • Conclusions drawn from a single source that many pages copied.
  • Confident claims about provider behaviour, prices or availability.
  • Answers that reference a workspace you are not currently in.

When the answer is wrong

Correct it explicitly in the same conversation, state what the correct value or behaviour is, and check the source. If the product's current behaviour contradicts this documentation, the live behaviour is correct and the documentation should be reported for review.

Asking for a less confident answer

When a decision is sensitive, ask for a stricter answer rather than a smoother one.

  • "Only state what two independent sources support."
  • "Say explicitly what you are not confident about."
  • "Give me the raw figures before any interpretation."

These framings do not change the model, but they change what it asserts without qualification, and they make omissions visible instead of invisible.

A refusal to answer from available evidence is a better outcome than a confident wrong answer. Ask for it explicitly when the stakes are high.

Common questions

How do I make OpenFeather admit uncertainty?

Ask it to state its confidence and list what evidence is missing for the claim.

What if the documentation is wrong?

Trust verified current behaviour, and report the discrepancy so the documentation can be corrected.
