Plans and credits: overview

Understand OpenbirdAI Free and Flight, how credits are charged for AI requests, and where to see current usage.

· OpenbirdAI documentation

OpenbirdAI has two plans. Free includes a daily allowance of AI requests and credits; Flight is a 30-day pass with substantially higher limits and access to additional model tiers. Credits are reserved before a request runs and settled when it finishes.

Availability, limits and provider coverage can change. The plans and pricing area of the product is the source of truth for current allowances.

Current plans

  • Free — 30 AI requests per day, 30 credits per day, and a shared weekly/monthly credit allowance. OpenFeather Core and Deep Strategy are available; Deep Strategy is charged at its fixed rate.
  • Flight — a 30-day pass that raises daily and monthly allowances substantially and adds OpenFeather Pro alongside Core and Deep Strategy.
Exact numbers, prices and included features can change. The pricing page and the plans area in your account are authoritative; this page deliberately avoids quoting figures that could go stale.

How credits work

  • A request is scored before it runs and the required credits are reserved.
  • If the request succeeds, the reservation is settled at the actual cost.
  • If it fails, the reservation is released and nothing is charged.
  • Cost depends on the model tier and, for Core, on the complexity and context of the request.

Where to see usage

The plans and usage area shows your current plan, credit balance, daily and monthly counters, and request history. The same figures appear in the usage summary attached to a completed Ask response, so a single request can be reconciled against the ledger.

OpenbirdAI deliberately does not quote prices or allowance numbers in this documentation, because the product configuration is authoritative and numbers here would go stale.

Where each number comes from

Credit figures are computed server-side from the request, never by the model. The same request always costs the same amount, and a displayed estimate can be reconciled against what was actually charged.

  • The per-request summary shows what this specific request cost.
  • The plans and usage area shows the running counters and reset times.
  • The request history shows what previous requests of the same shape cost.
If a response claims a cost, ignore it and read the usage summary instead. The model does not set prices.

Model tiers

  • Core — the default tier for everyday requests, priced dynamically by request value.
  • Pro — available on Flight; used for higher-quality responses at a fixed credit cost.
  • Deep Strategy — the deepest reasoning tier, available on both plans at its fixed credit cost.
Selecting a tier your plan does not include is refused with a clear message rather than silently substituted.

Common questions

Why was I charged differently for two similar questions?

Core pricing is dynamic. Context size, research, tools and output complexity all contribute to the score.

Do I lose credits when a request fails?

No. Reserved credits are released when the request fails.
