Connected context in answers

Understand how workspace, integration and conversation context combine to shape an answer, and how to control that combination.

· OpenbirdAI documentation

Every OpenFeather answer is built from context: the current conversation, durable memory, the active workspace, and the connections that belong to that workspace. Understanding which of these contributed is the fastest way to explain an unexpected answer.

This guide describes a capability that depends on the connected provider, the permissions granted to it, and your current plan. If the provider cannot supply the required data, OpenbirdAI reports it as unavailable rather than estimating.

How context is combined

The context planner selects candidates from each permitted source, ranks them by relevance, recency and entity match, and fills a bounded budget. Connection data and memory are kept distinguishable so the answer can cite evidence separately from stored context.

Controlling the mix

  1. State the workspace when the answer must come from a specific one.
  2. Name the service when a term could match several connected sources.
  3. Say explicitly when you want only memory, or only live data — "based on stored workspace context" is a valid instruction.
  4. Start a new conversation when the previous thread's subject would distort the result.

Diagnosing the wrong context

  • Answer cites the wrong account → check the connected account label.
  • Answer reflects another project → check workspace, then start a new conversation.
  • Answer ignores a fact you stored → it may be conversation-scoped, or stored in another workspace.
  • Answer mixes two topics → the conversation context carried over; reset with a new conversation.

Asking OpenFeather to explain its own context

You do not have to guess which context was used. Ask directly and the product will tell you:

text
"Which workspace, account and sources did you use for that answer?"
"What was missing that would make this more reliable?"

That one question resolves most "the answer feels off" reports, and it is faster than rephrasing and guessing.

If OpenFeather cannot state its sources for a private-data answer, treat the answer as unsupported regardless of how confident it sounds.

Boundaries

Context assembly never crosses a workspace boundary, never includes another user's data, and never incorporates provider credentials. If an answer appears to use data outside the active workspace, stop and report it as a serious fault.

Retrieved context is untrusted input. A document containing instructions cannot change OpenFeather's authorisation or system rules.

Common questions

How do I see which context was used?

Ask OpenFeather to list its sources and state which workspace and account it used.

Does OpenFeather read all my connections for every question?

No. Only the sources a request requires are loaded.
