Plans: Free and Flight

Compare the Free and Flight plans — what each includes, what changes when you upgrade, and what happens when a pass expires.

· OpenbirdAI documentation

OpenbirdAI has two plans. Free is a complete product with a daily allowance. Flight is a 30-day pass that raises limits substantially and adds OpenFeather Pro. This page describes the differences without quoting numbers that change.

Availability, limits and provider coverage can change. The plans and pricing area of the product is the source of truth for current allowances.

What Free includes

  • A daily allowance of AI requests and credits, plus a shared weekly and monthly credit allowance.
  • OpenFeather Core for everyday work.
  • Deep Strategy for the hardest questions, charged at its fixed rate.
  • A single workspace.

What Flight adds

  • Substantially higher daily and monthly allowances.
  • OpenFeather Pro alongside Core and Deep Strategy.
  • More workspace capacity for teams.
  • Higher request limits for connected services.
This page intentionally does not quote prices or exact numbers. Use the pricing page, which reflects current configuration.

Upgrading

  1. Open the plans area from your account.
  2. Select Flight and review what changes for your workspace.
  3. Complete payment through the checkout.
  4. Confirm the plan change in the plans and usage area before starting a large task.

Downgrading or letting a pass expire

Flight runs for a fixed 30-day period. When it ends, the account returns to Free behaviour. Requests that require a tier unavailable on Free are then refused with a clear message rather than silently downgraded.

Unused credits from a plan do not roll over indefinitely. Treat the current plan page as the authoritative statement.

Choosing between them

  • Stay on Free if a few grounded answers a day are enough for your work.
  • Choose Flight if you run many requests, need Pro, or work with more than one workspace.
  • Try a pass rather than committing to a workflow redesign — if the daily allowance is not your bottleneck, upgrading will not feel different.

Because limits are enforced per day and per period, the honest test is your actual usage over a week, not your busiest single day.

Checking what you are actually using

Before deciding, look at a real week rather than a memory of it. The request history shows which requests were expensive and why.

  • If most requests are cheap, higher limits will not change much for you.
  • If most requests are research-heavy, a narrower workflow helps more than a bigger allowance.
  • If you hit the daily request count, not credits, more credits will not help.
Credits and request counts are separate limits. Work out which one you are actually hitting before you decide what to change.

Common questions

Is there a monthly Flight subscription?

Flight is currently sold as a 30-day pass. Check the pricing page for the current model.

What happens to my data if I downgrade?

Your workspaces, connections and conversations are unaffected. Only limits and available tiers change.
